What is Intense Pulsed Light and what does it treat?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, brown spots, age spots, mottled pigmentation, freckles, fine lines and wrinkles, broken capillaries, skin discoloration, dull complexion and the symptoms of rosacea.
The same treatment can be used effectively on the neck, chest and hands. It offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual concerns and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction. This procedure is also called Photorejuvenation / Limelight Rejuvenation.
How is an IPL procedure performed?
The area is first cleansed. The smooth glass surface of the IPL handpiece is gently pressed onto your skin and pulses of light are dispersed. You will feel a sting, like the snapping of a rubber band. Immediately after treatment ice packs will be applied to reduce stinging, redness and swelling.
The skin will feel like moderate sunburn and this generally lasts for about an hour.
Immediately after your treatment and over the next few days you will notice the treated area become darker (this is called miloing). This is completely normal and this 'miloing 'will come off with your skins normal cell turnover.
You may book in for an exfoliating facial or 'peel' a week or so after your IPL treatment or gently exfoliate your skin at home to remove the last of the 'miloing'.
For optimal results several treatments may be required to provide excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction.
Each full face treatment takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour
Hands - 20 minutes
Forearms - 45 minutes
